Contract -
Installation of Full Retention Grease Interceptor
Client -
Royal Mail Property Holdings
Location -
St Rollox Mail Centre, Glasgow
Contract Value -
£35, 000.00
Scope of Works -
To excavate in courtyard area and install Full Retention Grease Interceptor.
Reason for
Works/History
-

The Mail centre has a large 24 hour working canteen, which was depositing large amounts of grease into the foul line and which was continually leaking, causing severe flooding and environmental problems.

On carrying out extensive investigation of the existing drainage system, it was decided that the only position (with minimum disruption) to install the Interceptor, was in the landscaped courtyard area next to the kitchen positioned at the centre of the building.

This meant that all plant, materials and soil would have to be positioned by utilising a 100T crane.

Method of Works -

1. All plant and materials were hoisted over the roof of the building and positioned in the courtyard.

2. All excavated materials were taken from the courtyard in muck kettle and deposited in skips, to be removed from the site.

3. As the excavation required was over 3m deep, hydraulic shoring was used to support side walls of the excavation.

4. Due to the limited working area and carnage, load bearing and excavation work was carried out by Mini Excavator and hand tools.

Timescale -
All works were completed without incident and to the client's satisfaction within programme - 15 working days.
